UK Manufacturer – ISO 9001-certified – UK and EU-sourced materials – Full traceability

Inconel Alloy 625® Socket Capscrews

We are a leading UK manufacturer of Inconel Alloy 625® socket capscrews, precision-engineered at our Sheffield facility to meet the most demanding industrial requirements. Known for their exceptional high-strength and outstanding corrosion resistance, these fasteners are manufactured to order from fully traceable materials sourced from approved suppliers. Our ISO 9001-certified quality management ensures that every capscrew provides reliable performance in extreme environments, ranging from cryogenic temperatures up to 1000°C.

Why Choose Inconel Alloy 625® Socket Capscrews?

Inconel 625® is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy strengthened by the addition of niobium, offering superior resistance to a wide range of severely corrosive environments. These socket capscrews are particularly well-suited for marine, aerospace, and chemical processing applications due to their:

  • Exceptional resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and chloride-ion stress-corrosion cracking
  • High fatigue and thermal-fatigue strength for critical mechanical assemblies
  • Excellent fabricability and weldability without the need for post-work heat treatment
  • Non-magnetic properties and high tensile strength in both oxidizing and reducing conditions

By choosing our UK-manufactured Inconel 625® socket capscrews, you benefit from bespoke fasteners designed to maintain integrity under the highest pressures and most volatile chemical exposures.

Inconel Alloy 625®: Information, Composition & Properties for Socket Capscrews

Inconel Alloy 625® is a high-performance nickel-based superalloy engineered for exceptional strength and superior resistance to oxidation and corrosion across a broad range of temperatures, from cryogenic levels up to 2000°F (1093°C). Unlike many other high-temperature alloys, Inconel 625® derives its high mechanical strength from the solid solution strengthening effect of molybdenum and niobium within its nickel-chromium matrix, eliminating the need for complex precipitation hardening treatments. This unique metallurgical structure makes it a premier choice for socket capscrews used in safety-critical assemblies where structural integrity must be maintained under extreme pressure and thermal stress.

Composition:

The alloy is primarily composed of nickel (minimum 58%) and chromium (20-23%), providing a robust foundation for general corrosion and oxidation resistance. Significant additions of molybdenum (8-10%) and niobium (3.15-4.15%) work together to stiffen the alloy matrix, while iron is limited to a maximum of 5%. Trace amounts of elements like titanium, aluminum, and manganese are also present to further refine its properties.

Properties:

  • Outstanding Corrosion Resistance: The high chromium and molybdenum content provides exceptional resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion, while the nickel content ensures immunity to chloride-ion stress corrosion cracking.
  • High Tensile and Fatigue Strength: With a typical tensile strength ranging from 120-160 ksi (827-1,103 MPa), these fasteners can withstand heavy dynamic loads and cyclic stresses, making them ideal for aerospace and subsea applications.
  • Thermal Stability: It maintains remarkable toughness and oxidation resistance in high-heat environments, resisting scaling and degradation even under continuous exposure to extreme temperatures.
  • Non-Magnetic and Versatile: Being non-magnetic, Inconel 625® socket capscrews are suitable for sensitive electronic or marine equipment where magnetic interference must be avoided.

Why Inconel Alloy 625® is good for Socket Capscrews:

The combination of high torque capability provided by the precision-engineered socket drive and the inherent strength of the alloy allows for secure, high-integrity fastening in tight spaces. These capscrews are essential for marine engineering, chemical processing, and nuclear reactors where standard stainless steels would succumb to pitting, crevice corrosion, or thermal fatigue. By choosing Inconel 625®, industries ensure long-term reliability and safety in the most aggressive environments on earth.

At West Special Fasteners, we take pride in every Inconel Alloy 625® Socket Capscrew we produce, no matter the application.

Certified Quality and Traceability

West Special Fasteners operates a fully accredited ISO 9001 quality system with comprehensive documentation and batch traceability. All material certificates and inspection reports are supplied as standard, ensuring complete confidence in the origin and integrity of every component.

About West Special Fasteners

Based in Sheffield, West Special Fasteners has been manufacturing precision-engineered fasteners since 1999. We specialise in super duplex, duplex, stainless steel, titanium, and nickel alloy components, serving clients across the UK and overseas.

Our commitment to quality, reliability, and service has made us a trusted partner to major industries worldwide.

Inconel Alloy 625® Socket Capscrew Manufacturing Capabilities

Our Sheffield-based manufacturing facility specialises in the production of high-integrity Inconel Alloy 625® socket capscrews, utilising both advanced hot forging and precision machining techniques. As one of the few UK manufacturers with dedicated hot press forging capabilities, we ensure the material integrity of every fastener is preserved for high-stress applications. Our hybrid workshop combines CNC and manual technology, allowing us to produce socket capscrews in a comprehensive size range from M3 to M100 (metric) and 3/16″ to 4″ (imperial), with multi-axis setups enabling complex geometries and tight tolerances.

To ensure superior performance in safety-critical environments, we utilise cold-form thread rolling for diameters up to M72, which enhances tensile strength and fatigue resistance by displacing material rather than cutting it. Every production run is supported by rigorous quality assurance, including in-house PMI testing, API-approved heat treatment, and full NDT certification. From specialised coatings like PTFE and Xylan to complete material traceability, our manufacturing capabilities are designed to meet the non-negotiable standards of the aerospace, marine, and chemical processing industries.
