It’s that time of year again, the sun is finally shining (even if it feels a bit too enthusiastic at the moment!), and summer events are back in full swing. One of the highlights in Dronfield’s calendar is just around the corner, as the brilliant volunteers from Dronfield Community First Responders, head over to Dronfield Gala to raise funds for the vital work they do across the town and surrounding areas.
This year, West Special Fasteners are proud to be supporting the team with a donation towards their popular bottle bag game, always a favourite at the gala. It’s the second year we’ve backed the Community First Responders in this way, and we’re really pleased to continue supporting such an important local service. The big question is… what will you get in yours? Will you be raising a glass, or running a bath!
Who Are Community First Responders?
Community First Responders are trained volunteers who are mobilised by the ambulance service to attend emergency calls in their local area. Because they live and work within the community,
they can often arrive on scene faster than an ambulance, providing essential care in those critical first moments.
From responding to cardiac arrests and chest pain to helping someone who’s collapsed or seriously unwell, their role is all about early intervention and reassurance. They carry life-saving equipment, including defibrillators, and are trained to a high standard, all while giving their time freely alongside their everyday jobs and commitments. It’s hard to overstate just how important those first few minutes can be, and that’s exactly where Community First Responders make a difference.
Why Supporting Local Really Matters
It’s easy to overlook how much initiatives like this rely on local support. Funding comes from events like the gala, donations, and people choosing to get involved. When businesses and residents back these efforts, it helps keep services right where they’re needed most.
For local businesses, supporting groups like the Dronfield CFRs it’s about being part of the community you operate in, the same community your team lives in, your customers come from, and your business depends on. Small contributions can have a real impact, especially when they help keep something as important as emergency response services going strong.
Keeping Safe in the Sunshine
With temperatures climbing, it’s worth keeping an eye on each other as much as ourselves. Dehydration, heat exhaustion, and other heat-related issues are more common than we might think, especially at busy outdoor events.
You may never expect to need help, but it’s reassuring to know that if you do, there are people nearby ready to step in. Every donation, every game played, every bit of support helps ensure Dronfield Community First Responders can continue responding quickly, staying equipped, and being there when it counts.
Get Involved at the Gala
If you’re heading down to Dronfield Gala, make sure to stop by and say hello to the team. Have a go at the bottle bag game, show your support, and be part of something that genuinely benefits the whole community.
They also share some fantastic health advice and updates over on their Facebook page, practical, easy-to-follow tips that are well worth keeping an eye on, especially in weather like this. Giving them a follow is a simple way to stay informed and support what they do all year round.
So if you’re there for the stalls, or just to enjoy the sunshine, take a moment to appreciate the people helping to keep everything running safely behind the scenes. Events like Dronfield Gala are a reminder of what makes our town special , local people giving their time, supporting each other, and helping good causes continue their work throughout the year.
