At West Special Fasteners, we’re excited to be sponsoring a pitch side board at Dronfield Town FC. It’s not just about loving football, its about supporting our community. And with the club right on our doorstep, is great to be part of something so local.
In the UK, football isn’t just a game, it’s part of who we are. It brings neighbours together, sparks passion, and gives communities a reason to come together. While the Premier League might get all the headlines, it’s grassroots football that keeps the game going. These local clubs are where friendships and confidence grows.
More Than a Game: Building a Community
Since 1998, Dronfield Town FC has been more than just a football club, it’s a cornerstone of the local community. What started as a small grassroots initiative has grown into a thriving hub for players and families alike. Today, the club runs over 35 teams, covering every age group from under-7 boys and girls to adult squads, and even offers mini soccer sessions for children as young as four. That means over 400 players proudly wear the club’s badge, supported by an incredible network of parents, coaches, and volunteers who dedicate countless hours to training, organising fixtures, and creating a safe, welcoming environment.
The club also invests in player development, facilities, and community events, ensuring football remains accessible and enjoyable for everyone. It’s not just about the game, it’s about building friendships, teaching life skills, and giving every child and adult the chance to be part of something bigger.
From Local Pitches to Premier League Dreams
Grassroots football is about more than just developing future stars, though it’s worth remembering that some of the biggest names in the game started out just like this. Harry Kane, Ian Wright, Lucy Bronze , Jordan Pickford, Bukayo Saka, and Beth Mead all came through grassroots clubs before rising to the top. Their stories are proof that with the right support, talent can come from anywhere, all it needs is a chance.
Even for those who don’t go pro, the benefits of grassroots football are huge. It’s inclusive, it builds confidence, and it gives people of all ages and backgrounds a place to belong. It supports mental health, helps keep us physically fit, and teaches teamwork, discipline, and resilience. And none of it would be possible without the amazing coaches, referees, and volunteers who give their time week in, week out. This is what grass roots football is all about and Dronfield Town FC is leading the way.
Big Clubs and Local Roots
At West Special Fasteners, as you all know, we’re proud to support Chesterfield FC, a club with a rich history and passionate fanbase. But for us, it’s not just about backing big names; it’s about strengthening the foundations of football in our communities. That’s why also supporting grassroots clubs like Dronfield Town FC matters. These are the places where passion starts, where kids take their first steps onto the pitch, and where communities come together week after week. By supporting local football, it means investing in the next generation, creating opportunities, and ensuring football remains accessible to everyone. Because the game belongs to all of us.
A Warm Welcome at Stonelow
Recently, we had the chance to head down and watch a Dronfield Town match, and what an experience it was! The atmosphere was fantastic, with families cheering on the sidelines and players giving it their all. Everyone was so welcoming, from the coaches to the parents, and it really showed what grassroots football is all about: community, passion, and fun. If you get the chance, we’d highly recommend going along, and see if you can spot our board!
We’re delighted to be part of the clubs journey and the local football community.
