As Christmas approaches, we’ve once again come together to support Chesterfield Foodbank and the incredible work they do for families in need. This year, we wanted to go beyond food essentials. Alongside tins and packets, our collection included toys and gifts for children, because, as one of our colleagues put it so perfectly, “we couldn’t bear the thought of a child waking up with nothing on Christmas Day.” And what makes this even more meaningful is that it wasn’t a top-down initiative, it came from our colleagues themselves, choosing to use their own money and resources to help local families.
Why This Matters
Christmas is a time for joy, warmth, and togetherness, but for many families in our community, it can be a time of worry and hardship. Rising living costs mean that some parents face the heartbreaking reality of choosing between heating their homes and putting food on the table. By donating food, toys, and gifts, we hope to ease that burden and bring a little magic to those who need it most.

Chesterfield Foodbank is part of the Trussell Trust network, working tirelessly to provide emergency food and essentials to people in crisis. Their mission goes beyond handing out parcels; they aim to tackle the root causes of poverty by offering advice and support through partnerships with organisations like Citizens Advice. Last year alone, they distributed thousands of nutritionally balanced food parcels to adults and children across Chesterfield and surrounding areas.
