A Day to Remember
I recently took my family to Chatsworth on one of the hottest days of the year, and it didn’t disappoint. The house was as stunning as ever, with a breathtaking display called The Gorgeous Nothings a celebration of flowers on a grand scale that brought the outside in. We wandered through each room, taking our time, and even though we’ve visited many times (especially at Christmas), we still discovered things we’d never seen before. The house in daylight has a completely different charm.
To escape the heat, we stopped for lunch at the Carriage Restaurant. The food was delicious, and the nearby water fountain was just what we needed to cool down before heading to the farmyard. Feeding the goats is always the highlight for my children and they would happily stay there all day if they could!
But the gardens were calling. We explored shaded paths, hidden corners, and even made it all the way to the grotto, a peaceful little spot we’d never ventured to before. Walking around the lake, surrounded by lily pads and the quiet hum of summer, was simply magical.
And yes, we got lost in the maze. Again. No matter how many times we try, we never seem to make it to the centre and back without a few wrong turns, but that’s half the fun.
Why This Matters
