2025: Community, Sustainability, and a Few Surprises

December 17, 2025

When we completed our buy out in 2024, we made ourselves a promise: do things differently, do business better, and support the people and community around us. Big words, right? But we didn’t want them to just sit on a mission statement gathering dust. We wanted action. So, we introduced a dedicated CSR Officer (and what a whirlwind that’s been!) and set out to make a real impact. Here’s a look back at what we’ve been up to, and yes, there were some shiny machines and football moments along the way.

June: Nature, Awards, and Stainless Steel That Never Quits

June was a busy one! We kicked things off by announcing our membership with Chatsworth House. Why? Because we believe everyone deserves a little time in nature, away from emails and spreadsheets, to recharge. Our colleagues now have the chance to wander through stunning gardens and maybe even spot a deer or two. (No promises on the deer.)

We also sponsored the Chesterfield FC Young Achiever Award, because supporting young talent matters. And speaking of achievers, we were thrilled when our own MD, Sonja, was named a finalist in the Enterprising Women Awards. The timing couldn’t have been better, it tied in perfectly with Women in Engineering Day, where we celebrated the incredible women who paved the way for equality in STEM. There’s still work to do, but we’re proud to be part of that conversation.

Community was front and centre too. We supported the Dronfield Community First Responders as they raised funds with their famous Bottle Bag game.

And because sustainability is in our DNA, we talked about the almost endless life of stainless steel. It really does go on and on and on…… . Plus, we shared how we’re going above and beyond to meet CBAM guidelines, making sure we’re aligned with government and EU standards.

July: Neurodiversity and Plastic-Free Commitments

July was all about inclusion and sustainability. We explored neurodiversity in the workplace and how companies need to adapt. Neurodiverse individuals often bring incredible strengths, creativity, attention to detail, and innovative problem-solving that can transform a business. Our goal? To create an environment where everyone can thrive.

We also celebrated Plastic Free July, with colleagues committing to those small changes that add up. Swapping single-use plastics for reusable alternatives, cutting down on packaging, and finding clever ways to reduce waste both at work and at home. From bringing in refillable water bottles to ditching plastic wrap for lunches, these small changes really do add up. It’s about building habits that stick, because sustainability isn’t a one-month trend, it’s a long-term commitment.

August: Foodbank collection and a Shiny New Toy

August began with a bang as we celebrated Yorkshire Day. Being just up the road from Sheffield, we couldn’t miss it! You also might have spotted our advertising boards at Chesterfield Football Club. For us, it’s more than just a board, it’s about being part of the local sporting community and showing our support for the Spireites. Every time the camera pans across the pitch and our logo pops up, it’s a reminder that we’re investing in our community. Plus, it’s always fun when colleagues send us screenshots from matchday coverage saying, “Look, that’s us!”

We also unveiled our sparkling new machine. Nakamura-Tome AS-200L. It’s shiny, it’s efficient, and honestly, it’s so pretty we almost want to put a bow on it. (Almost.)

Community giving continued with our first collection for Chesterfield Foodbank, and our colleagues blew us away with their generosity. And speaking of milestones, we celebrated 25 years with our MD Sonja Skelton. A huge achievement and a reminder of the incredible people who make this company what it is.

September: Walking for a Cause and Big Promotions

September started strong with our sponsorship and participation in Weston Park’s Walk as One, raising funds to support cancer research and patient care. It was a day of teamwork, fresh air, and sore legs, but worth every step.

We also marked another 25-year anniversary, this time with Paul Arnold, our Production Manager. And if that wasn’t enough, we promoted four colleagues in one month! That’s right! Four talented individuals stepping into new roles, proving that hard work and dedication don’t go unnoticed here. Career progression is something we take seriously, and seeing our team grow is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

October: Awards and Ashgate

October was packed. We had a blast at the Enterprising Women Awards finals. No trophy this time but being in a room full of talented women was incredibly inspiring.

We were also thrilled to be named finalists in three categories at the East Midlands Chamber Business Awards! It was a huge honour and a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team. Recognition like this reminds us that doing business better isn’t just a slogan, it’s something we live every day.

We also squeezed in a visit to the Chesterfield FC training ground, where we got a behind-the-scenes look at the first team in action, a great experience for our football fans!

And when news broke about Ashgate Hospice, our inbox was flooded with colleagues wanting to help. This incredible charity provides end-of-life care and support for families during the hardest times, and their work is nothing short of life-changing. We didn’t hesitate, we joined their Business Club, committing to ongoing support and collaboration. For us, it’s about more than donations; it’s about standing alongside an organisation that brings comfort and dignity when it matters most.

November: Going Gold and Strengthening Community Ties

November brought big news: we became a Gold Friend of Chesterfield FC Community Trust, and this isn’t just a title. The Trust does incredible work to make a real difference in people’s lives. From delivering health and wellbeing programs to supporting education and inclusion initiatives, their impact reaches far beyond the pitch. By joining at Gold level, we’re committing to help them continue this vital work, ensuring that they remain a force for good in our community.

But that’s not all. We also sponsored a pitch side board at Dronfield Town FC, just up the road from our factory on Callywhite Lane. Supporting grassroots football is something we’re passionate about, it’s about giving young players opportunities, keeping communities connected, and fostering pride in local sport.

December: Sparkle, Generosity, and Holiday Cheer

December was all about sparkle and giving back. Our snowflake shone brightly on Vicar Lane for the Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity, and helping fund life-saving care for children and families who need it most. Seeing our name among so many supporters was a proud moment, it’s amazing what can happen when businesses come together for a good cause.

But the sparkle didn’t stop there. We held our second collection for Chesterfield Foodbank, and this time we went bigger than ever. Alongside essential food items, our colleagues donated a bumper selection of toys to make sure no child goes without on Christmas Day. The generosity was overwhelming, bags filled with gifts, treats, and festive surprises poured in from every corner of the business. It was a true team effort and a reminder that when we pull together, we can make a real difference.

So, What’s Next?

So all that’s left is to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year! Thank you for being part of our journey, whether you’re a colleague, a customer, or a community partner.

And keep your eyes peeled…… we’ve got something exciting coming in 2026 that we can’t wait to share!
