The general corrosion resistance is somewhere between that of 304 and 316 stainless steel.

When compared to K400, K500 has shown to have a much higher tensile and yield strength.

However, it is a poor performer in oxidising conditions and not useful against, for example, nitrous and nitric acids.

It has roughly twice the yield strength of standard austenitic stainless steel grades. This grade of stainless steel offers excellent resistance to stress and crevice corrosion, pitting and cracking.
